General Information
- Document Delivery (Copy/Scan Service) delivers digitized documents of journal articles and book chapters from the Bird Library's collection.
- Interlibrary Loan service (Borrowing) provides access to research materials including articles, book chapters, and physical books not available from the Bird Library. The materials are borrowed from other libraries nationwide.
- Physical copy of a requested book can be picked up at the 3rd floor Service Desk at the Bird Library
- Free for current students, faculty, residents/fellows, and staff at the University of Oklahoma Health Campus in Oklahoma City
- Quick turnaround, with most items (articles) delivered within 1-2 business days
How to Request Materials
- Request articles, book chapters, and book via ILLiad
- Log in to ILLiad with your OU credential; when you log in the first time, you will need to fill out the new user form. We will verify your affiliation with your OU email address.
- Click New Requests from the menu, and provide the citation information.
Turnaround Time
- Most article requests will be delivered to you via ILLiad within 1-2 business days
- A physical book may take up to10 or more business days to arrive at the Bird Library
- Email notifications will be sent to you when items arrive
- All electronic items will be cleared after 15 days from your ILLiad account

Unaffiliated Users
- If you are NOT currently affiliated with the University of Oklahoma Health Campus in Oklahoma City, the Bird Library provides document delivery service for scanned document and borrowing materials electronically.
- Copy/Scan service will be available from the Bird Library's print and electronic collection
- Borrowing service is available ONLY electronically
- Please call 405-271-2285, x48751, opt 1 (Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm) to provide payment information; please do not submit payment
information through the electronic form as it is not secure
- For a Copy/Scan of a library-owned article or book chapter: $5.00 flat rate for the first 35 pages; pages 36+ are billed at an additional $0.15 per page
- For an article, or book chapter from another institution:
$12.00 per item

The borrowing and copy/scan of materials is done within the provisions of the General Interlibrary Loan Code of the American Library Association, the National
Network of Libraries of Medicine/South Central Region Interlibrary Loan policy, and the U.S. Copyright Law and accompanying guidelines.
