Joy Summers-Ables, Director of the Bird Library and Chair of the Department of Health Sciences Library and Information Management in the Graduate College, has been elected Chair of South Central Academic Medical Libraries (SCAMeL) for 2023-2025.

As a consortium of 22 libraries serving medical schools in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas, SCAMeL's mission is to empower member libraries to better meet the educational, clinical, research, and community engagement priorities of their institutions.
