United Way Bake Sale

  • The Bird Library will be hosting its 10th Annual United Way Bake Sale
    Tuesday October 6th and Wednesday October 7th, from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.



    We will have hot, fresh coffee on the 3rd floor. Please join us.
    All proceeds go to United Way .

  • New Library Services Make Debut

  • The Bird Library is transitioning to a new set of tools to provide enhanced library services. These tools include:

  • ILLiad - A new document delivery system designed to make it easier for you to request articles. (The current document delivery form will be available for a short period during this transition, but will eventually be phased out). Learn more at our Document Delivery page.

  • Serials Solutions - The library's new E-Journals & E-Books portal. Improved searching and access to the library's collection of electronic content. (Look for the new E-Journals & E-Books link).

  • Online Catalog - Over the Summer the library launched a new online catalog. The new catalog makes it easier to find and access the print and electronic content the library holds.

  • Serials Solutions

  • Serials Solutions Coming Soon: The Bird Library will be transitioning to a new system that will manage some of our electronic content.



    Serials Solutions will provide improved access for patrons to find and use the Bird Library's electronic journals and books. Serials Solutions will replace GoldRush.

  • In partnership with the National Library of Medicine (NLM) The Robert M. Bird Library has helped launch Oklahoma Go Local, which provides listings of health services and facilities across the state.



    You can search whichever way works best for you: county, city, service, or health topic. We pull together information about health services around the state to best help you find what you need from one location.

  • Bird Library Director Wins MLA President's Award

  • Marty Thompson, Director of the Robert M. Bird Health Sciences Library, was awarded the President's Award at the Medical Library Association (MLA) Annual Conference held in May 2009.



    MLA President Mary Ryan presents the President's Award to Marty Thompson.

    The President's Award is given to an MLA member who has been selected by the association's officers and Board of Directors for a notable or important contribution made during the past association year. The contribution must have enhanced the profession of health sciences librarianship or furthered the objectives of the association.

    At the Awards Luncheon he was presented with the award in recognition of his extensive contributions in the area of library disaster planning to MLA, its members and the medical library community. Congratulations to Marty, the Library and the OUHSC!
